Meet Christy Rost
Christy is a Colorado native and was born in Denver to German immigrant parents. She has lived in Colorado most of her life along with her older brother who is in Lakewood. Growing up her family loved skiing, and her parents were part of a sailing club which eventually involved keeping a boat on Lake Dillon. It was all the trips to the mountains that made her fall in love with Summit County!
Christy also had a passion for soccer and started playing in 4th grade. She would have played sooner, but her mom felt soccer was a BOY’S sport. Luckily, her mom eventually caved in, and Christy played competitively and traveled up until college.
By age 5, Christy started skiing. When she was 16, she discovered a new emerging sport called snowboarding. At first, snowboarders weren’t allowed at the ski resorts, so they skied at the resorts and went snowboarding anywhere else they could find hills and snow.
Eventually, Breckenridge “allowed” snowboarders, and things only progressed from there. Christy started competitive snowboarding at the age of 18 and competed in every discipline there was. She was able to continue her snowboarding path by taking classes at CU Boulder, in the Summer and Fall. She even took Spring semester off and lived in Summit County so she could pursue her passion for snowboarding.
Eventually, she graduated from CU with a Kinesiology degree and moved to Summit permanently. Her first home in Frisco was a vacant laundry room in a condo, for $200/month with 4 male roommates from CU. It was only a block away from where she currently owns a home. How ironic!
Christy originally worked as a PT aide, and waitress, all while pursuing a professional snowboarding career. She met her future husband at the age of 20 and they shared the same snowboard sponsors and traveled to compete at the same events.
Her proudest snowboarding contest result was 2nd, at the US Extreme Championships at Crested Butte in 1997. She only took 2nd by one point to a local gal. She was plagued by knee injuries and surgeries, by this point and knew it was time to move on.

Christy then went to PT school at The Arizona School of Health Sciences where she earned her DPT in 2002. Following graduation, she and her future husband decided to go to surf camp in Costa Rica. Another passion was born, traveling and surfing! The two married 19 years later and now have a 14-year-old son, Ever, whom they both adore. Parenthood gave Christy a whole new perspective on life and what is truly important.
Christy and her family continue to reside in Frisco for 30+ years now. They are raising their own mountain kid and get their surfing fix 1-2x a year. All of their family members live within one hour of us and they feel so lucky!
“Starting Axis Sports Medicine with my amazing colleges was one of the best decisions I have ever made,” Christy said. “Although it was scary and stressful at times, I am thankful to have gone through this rewarding journey with this team! We have something rare and special. Thank you, team Axis, my Axis family. Here’s to the future of us!”
We love having Christy in our Axis family. Kick Axis!
