Embrace Injury-Free Skiing: Tips for a Thrilling Season Finale

As ski season enters its final stretch, there’s still ample time to relish the exhilaration of blue-sky powder days and the joy of spring skiing. To ensure you make the most of these remaining weeks, we’ve compiled some valuable ski injury prevention tips focusing on enhancing core and hip stability – vital elements for mastering proper skiing techniques.

1. Planks for a Strong Foundation
Kickstart your injury prevention routine with planks, a foundational exercise targeting core activation and spinal alignment. Ensure proper form by drawing in your abdominals and maintaining a neutral alignment. For added support, modify planks with knees on the floor. Learn more about effective plank variations here.

2. Side Planks for Lateral Hip Strength
Strengthen your lateral hip muscles with side planks, holding each position for 20-30 seconds. Engage deep abdominals and maintain a neutral spine throughout. Repeat 2-3 times on each side to build vital lateral hip strength.

3. Bosu Squats for Lower Extremity Power
Boost lower extremity strength and hip stability with Bosu squats. Stand on the flat side with feet hip-width apart, perform 10 squats, then hold the lower squat position. Shift your body weight side to side, targeting hips, quads, and ankle strength. Complete 2-3 sets for a comprehensive lower body workout.

4. Dynamic Bosu Ball Toss
Take your core stability to the next level with the Bosu ball toss. While standing on the Bosu’s flat surface, have a partner toss a ball to you as you stabilize your body in a mini squat position. Vary the toss and catch at different angles to challenge your core stability. Check out the Bosu ball toss in action here.

Remember, consistency is key in performing these core and hip stabilization exercises. And, of course, don’t forget to have fun on the slopes!
