Professional Photographer, Cyclist + Community Leader
Like so many Summit County locals, David Cudd came for a single season in January 2008 and never looked back. Over 15 years later, David has transformed from a mountain sports enthusiast into one of the region’s most respected outdoor photographers and a pillar of the local athletic community.
Cycling has always been at the heart of David’s mountain lifestyle. His dedication to the sport was put to the ultimate test in 2012 when he broke his neck in a cycling accident. Proving his relentless spirit, David was already planning his return to the saddle while still in the hospital.
That recovery led to a life-changing adventure: shortly after meeting his wife, Ali, the two embarked on an epic cycling journey down the West Coast, riding from Seattle to San Diego. David proposed along the way, and the two were married just months later—a testament to the fast-paced, adventurous life they’ve built together in the High Country.
Today, David is a sought-after full-time photographer. His career is perfectly synced with his athletic lifestyle; he specializes in capturing high-intensity mountain sports. To get the perfect shot, David has to be as fit as the athletes he films. Whether he is racing mountain bikes, trail running, or eyeing the world of ski mountaineering, his “office” is the Great Outdoors.
David’s impact goes beyond photography. He is a key figure in the local scene, leading group rides, tours, and events through the Summit Social Collective. His mission is to foster a thriving athletic community while supporting the local businesses that make Summit County unique.
When he’s not behind the camera or chasing a podium, David is a dedicated father of two. For the Cudd family, Summit County isn’t just a place to live—it’s a blessing and a home they feel lucky to share with their kids every day.
As an #AxisAmbassador, David embodies the spirit of recovery and peak performance. He knows firsthand that staying active is a lifelong journey, and we are proud to support him as he continues to capture the beauty of our mountains.

A Note from David: “Staying fit isn’t just about the race; it’s about being ready to keep up with the athletes I’m photographing and staying healthy for my family. Axis helps me stay ‘mountain-ready’ year-round.”
